Self-Testing (“Personal Experiments”)

Before I unleash any of my programs on anyone, I personally test them out on myself...in short, I am my own guinea pig for the workouts.  It was back in 2000 when I first came up with the Athletic Fitness Formula.   That’s when I came across two Masters in the fields of Sports Functionality and Fat Loss Training- Juan Carlos Santana and Alwyn Cosgrove.  Inspired by their approaches, I completely tweaked mine and began to run my “Personal Experiments”.  The results were awesome!   I knew I was on to something and shortly thereafter, I began to share the Athletic Fitness Formula with others and as I was clear that it would, it did wonders for my clients.

I am a regular speaker at national tennis conventions and put on fitness workshops all across the country.  My career in fitness began while attending Emory University, where I was program director for the adidas Tennis Camp.  Upon graduating with a B.A. in Psychology, Icontinued my academic pursuits at The Ohio State University, where I earned an M. A. in Sport Management.  While in graduate school, I trained under Marty Riessen, 3-time Grand Slam Champion, in advanced training methods for top-level tennis players.  From there I went on to develop the training program for the Elite Junior Squads at The David Lloyd Clubs in London, England. In addition I was Strength & Conditioning Coordinator for the LMU Tennis Academy

My high-energy, passionate and colorful presentations on fitness, motivation, and inspiration are something to behold.  You will walk away breathless and excited about getting fit to live.  Anyone who has ever seen me talk will probably agree- I am one of a kind...without a doubt, a man on a mission.  My mission being to make fitness for life, fun and do-able for everyBODY everywhere!

•To share my enthusiasm and deep appreciation for sports and training through a structured, yet fun-filled and exciting atmosphere.

My programs are designed to feed your body mentally, physically, and nutritionally.  They are focused on developing a balanced, healthy approach to life and fitness.    This is not a quick fix formula.  It is built upon the principles of progressive overload. All areas of training are designed to address preparation, progression, and performance.

Preparation implies having necessary control of exercises and strength in the muscles to Progress to the next level of training intensity.  When the body and mind are ready, gradually increasing the difficulty and intensity of drills/  exercises will lend itself to peaking for Performance.

The underlying theme regardless of level of training will be attention to detail.  For it is my belief that victory is in the detail, and results/winning become a bi-product of training hard, knowing you have done everything in your ability to prepare, and competing with the heart of a champion.  We will be “building a house of bricks, not of paper walls”.  In all exercises, form and technique are next to godliness.  With proper form and control, you will be more efficient and effective, effectiveness leads to results, results in turn lead to more motivation.

Anything worth attaining usually takes desire, commitment, consistency and discipline.  I can’t think of anything more worthwhile to invest in than you and your health!  The most precious gift you can give to those you love is to be a happy, healthy person.  So here’s to you for beginning your journey toward a healthier life!

Train The Way You LIVE- From Muscles To Movements

When it comes to working out your body, you can attack the task in two primary ways.  The first isolates individual muscles and joints, the second combines multiple muscles groups and joints into movement patterns.  Both have a place in properly training the body.  When one is deciding what types of exercises to use, it is necessary to look at one’s operational environment.  In what ways will you be functioning- will you be moving just your arm or will you be bending down, turning and walking, throwing something etc?   At the same time, what are you bringing to the table with regard to how much strength training you are presently doing?  This is referred to as a needs assessment.

More often than not, it is ideal to gear your training to fit your purpose.  For our purposes, we are going to apply our training to an environment (LIFE) where your body is constantly being called upon to operate in a synergistic way in which it allows you to change levels, move in multiple planes of activity, at extreme ranges of motion and varying speeds, all the while attempting to maintain balance.  Now that’s a mouth full!   There’s a saying in the training world, “You get what you train for- don’t train slow and heavy if you want to be fast and light”.  In short, the primary focus of the workouts is built around multi-joint, multi-planar activities utilizing lighter weights.

The END RESULT= your body becomes LEAN and TONED and SCULPTED.
